Reprinted below is the text of an email release from the FWC. It is unbelievable to us that the Chairman continues to claim that there are absolutely NO impacts from the oil spill being felt in Florida. An entire deepwater grouper fishery, and entire Gulf of Mexico pelagic fishery, and much of Northern Florida's charter fishery has been shut down. That hardly constitutes "absolutely no impacts". Perhaps the oil hasn't reached our beaches (yet), our estuaries (yet), and our bays (yet) but it sure as hell is impacting a huge number of Floridians and their families and the failure of the FWC Chairman to acknowledge that fact while fronting for the tourist industry and trying to get out the word that "all is well" is shameful and disgusting. NOTE: I went to the myFWC website and sent this article to the Executive Director, wondering if he'd have some response. I used the contact page on their website to send the article...and got back a "mail delivery failed" message. Guess they don't want to hear about it.
